About Us
Initial attempt to
start Gyalshing School, presently christened as Govt. Girls' Sr. Sec. School,
Gyalshing was made in the year 1928-29. Having realized the need of a school, a
pathsala commitee was constituted in the year 1933 under the guidance of Shri
S.K. Generesa (Phak Tshering Kazi) a leading educationist of the time who had
been relentlessly espousing and upholding the noble cause of education. In the
year 1955 the Darbar took over the School and granted Junior High School
status. It was the year 1957 Gyalshing School was granted Higher Secondary
status and on 24th of November 1964 the school was shifted to Pelling due to
space constraints and lack of adequate infrastructure. Only the primary section
that too only up to class IV was left behind at Gyalshing. It had started its
journey once again from the very beginning. It was the year 1974, 1992 and 2002
the school was upgraded to Junior, Secondary and Senior Secondary level respectively
and was also declared as a Girls' School. However boys are permitted to study
upto class V level. Currently Humanities, Science, Commerce, Information
Technology and Tourism course have been introduced. Over the last 84 years
Gyalshing School is dedicated to impart education and transform the children to
be better citizens. It further aims to enhance quality education, focusing on
academic excellence as well as physical, mental, moral and spiritual upliftment
of the children. It also aims to update itself to cater the ever changing needs
of children and society as a whole. Gyalshing School wishes to move ahead with
its motto "WISDOM, LOYALTY and SERVICE".

We at Gyalshing Girls’ Sr. Sec. School
, the teachers, the administrative staff and I will make sure that home extends
to school and school extends to home seamlessly. The education of children is
the most satisfying & joyful experience a human being can desire. Along
with the staff & parents I will work hard to continue the success story of
the school will build strong bonds with the parents, staff, students & our
other associates. Together we will focus on the intellectual, emotional &
spiritual growth of our students and try our hardest to achieve the highest
standards of learning and to master challenges placed in their path of life.
Everyday brings forth new opportunities to learn more. At this school we are on
a journey to making education more meaningful and engaging inside the
classroom. We believe that each child is unique and gifted and a child’s
capacity to learn and create is infinite. We are proud and privileged that you
